SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — The Special Cabinet Committee on National Governance (JKKTN) has agreed to conduct a legal study to formulate policies and draft the proposed Khairat Bill to regulate trust entities and public fundraising.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the move was important to ensure that entrusted funds are managed transparently and responsibly.
The JKKTN meeting, which he chaired in Putrajaya yesterday, also focused on efforts to curb leakages involving public funds and abuse of power, particularly within federal statutory bodies.
“I stressed that law enforcement must be accompanied by the continuous cultivation of integrity and good governance across the public and private sectors, as well as society,” he said in a Facebook post.
The meeting also agreed to a proposal to implement the Cultivation of Public Service Values initiative.
At the same time, the policy for the proposed Statutory Bodies and Controlled Entities (Financial Governance) Bill will be presented to the Cabinet this year to strengthen discipline and accountability in financial management.
“The meeting also agreed to seven resolutions presented during the Fifth National Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Research Conference on September 25,” he said.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the Madani government would continue to strengthen integrity in the public service and close loopholes that allow leakages and abuse of power.
“Every ringgit of public money is a trust from the people that must be safeguarded.
“Every power entrusted to us must be exercised to ensure the well-being of the people,” he said.
