SHAH ALAM, Sept 29 — Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is reviewing the safety of the cycle lane along Persiaran Dato’ Menteri in Section 14 following an incident in which a motorcyclist fell while travelling through the area.
In a statement, MBSA said it was aware of the incident and had immediately begun examining factors that may have contributed to it, as well as the safety of users at the location.
According to MBSA, the review will cover the maintenance of the route and how the cycle lane interacts with other road users.
“Following the incident, MBSA has taken immediate steps to examine factors that could potentially affect safety at the location,” the council said in a statement.
MBSA said the cycle lane is an extension of the existing cycling route in Shah Alam city centre, which was provided by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad as part of the LRT3 construction project.
The route was developed as part of efforts to strengthen active mobility infrastructure and improve connectivity between urban areas and public transport facilities, particularly LRT stations.
MBSA said it would also hold discussions with Prasarana to identify and coordinate appropriate improvements.
“This is expected to enable appropriate measures to be implemented promptly to ensure the safety of users along the route,” MBSA added.
