SHAH ALAM, Sept 29 — A total of 27 out of 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8.45 am today.
According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the highest reading was recorded at IPD Serian, Sarawak, at 174, followed by Pasir Gudang, Johor, at 169 and Larkin, Johor, at 168.
In Selangor, six locations recorded unhealthy readings, with Johan Setia registering the highest API at 161.
Shah Alam recorded an API reading of 156, followed by Klang at 153, Banting at 150, Petaling Jaya at 116 and Kuala Selangor at 109.
Outside Selangor, several other areas also recorded unhealthy air quality, including Nilai in Negeri Sembilan and Bandaraya Melaka, which both registered API readings of 164.
Bukit Rambai and Batu Pahat each recorded 161, followed by Samarahan at 160; Pengerang and Kota Tinggi at 159 each; and Cheras and Kuching at 158 each.
Tangkak also recorded an unhealthy reading of 157, followed by Port Dickson at 155, Putrajaya at 154, Alor Gajah and Segamat at 153 each, Seremban and Rompin at 152 each, Kluang at 142 and Sri Aman at 133.
Under APIMS classifications, API readings between 101 and 200 are categorised as unhealthy.
