SHAH ALAM, Sept 28 — The Kuala Selangor District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) has stepped up preparations and monitoring efforts to deal with the high tide phenomenon.
The Kuala Selangor District and Land Office said sea levels at the One Phantom Bank Station are expected to reach 5.4m tomorrow at 6.54am and 5.3m on Wednesday (September 30) at 7.27am.
In a Facebook post, it said the levels are expected to be the highest readings recorded based on the high tide schedule at the station.
In response, authorities will continue monitoring and prepare to manage the phenomenon. Attention will be focused on areas identified as hotspots for seawater overflow.
Coastal embankments and bunds will also be monitored closely due to the risk of seawater overflow that could result in flooding.
The Kuala Selangor JPBD will step up its level of preparedness to ensure continuous monitoring of high-risk areas.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Selangor District and Land Office reminded the public to prepare for the high tide phenomenon.
They are also advised to remain alert to current conditions, particularly in areas at risk of seawater overflow.
“The Kuala Selangor District and Land Office reminds the public to be prepared and to remain alert and vigilant in facing this phenomenon,” it said.
