PETALING JAYA, Sept 27 — State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah hopes Skim Ceria receives at least RM10 million under the 2027 Selangor Budget to aid apartment maintenance efforts and ensure strata communities’ well-being.
He added that increased funds would allow more apartments, especially old ones, to undergo maintenance in terms of their infrastructure assets and public facilities.
“We hope that in the 2027 budget that will be tabled in November, we really hope Skim Ceria would get a RM5 million to RM10 million allocation so we can help everyone.
“We will receive support from MARRIS (Malaysian Road Records Information System), ICU (Implementation Coordination Unit), and Projek Selangor Penyayang to upgrade community (facilities),” he said when officiating the Strata Community Roadshow for the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) here last night.
“I’d like to give some advice. The government can help fix lifts. The government can help paint buildings. The government can help upgrade facilities. But after we fix everything, we’re the ones who have to take care of them together. That’s why I always say, a shared space is our shared responsibility,” Borhan added.
Previously, he said infrastructure and facility maintenance in low-cost apartment complexes would be prioritised next year to ensure residents enjoy a better environment, but said more funds are needed for fixes like upgrading drains and repainting old buildings.
From 2011 to 2024, 389 Skim Ceria projects have been activated in Selangor’s 12 municipalities with an overall allocation of RM148.2 million.
