SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 — Air quality continues to improve nationwide, with only four areas in Sarawak recording unhealthy levels as of noon today.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Serian recorded the highest API reading at 175, followed by Kuching (163), Samarahan (162) and Sri Aman (158), with all four showing slight improvements from their morning readings.
A total of 61 areas logged moderate reading, including all six monitoring stations in Selangor: Shah Alam (85), Johan Setia (80), Kuala Selangor (77), Petaling Jaya (73), Klang (71) and Banting (64).
Other areas in the Klang Valley also recorded moderate readings, namely Cheras (78), Batu Muda (74) and Putrajaya (72).
Three stations had good air quality: Tanah Merah (45), Langkawi (37), and Besut (29).
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 301 is hazardous.
