SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 — The Selangor government is strengthening collaboration between researchers and industry to commercialise nanotechnology for the development of the battery, energy storage and hydrogen industries, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the move also aims to attract investment to the state while creating high-value jobs for residents.
“These efforts are in line with Selangor’s initiative to build a competitive green economy,” he said in a post on X yesterday.
Amirudin said this following a courtesy visit by a NanoMalaysia Bhd delegation led by its chief executive officer, Prof Rezal Khairi Ahmad, during which they discussed the potential of nanotechnology in the battery industry, next-generation energy storage and Selangor’s hydrogen ecosystem.
According to the menteri besar, advances in green hydrogen technology offer Selangor opportunities to explore new energy sources that are more efficient and sustainable.
“At the same time, the growth of the electric and hybrid vehicle industry creates opportunities to develop the battery industry, including energy storage technology, battery recycling and the management of used batteries,” he said.
