MELAKA, Sept 25 — Parti Wawasan Negara chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Rais Yatim arrived at the Ayer Keroh Court Complex here this morning and is expected to face a charge under the Sedition Act.
Mohd Rais arrived at about 8.40 am accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Masnah Muhamat, and his son Danni Rais, who is also the Klawang state assemblyman.
He is expected to be charged before Sessions Court Judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin.
On July 30, Negeri Sembilan’s Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir decreed the immediate revocation of the Darjah Seri Utama Negeri Sembilan and Darjah Dato’ Setia Negeri Sembilan state honours conferred on Rais.
Title and Award Registrar Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim was quoted as saying that Tuanku Muhriz had decreed the revocation of the two state honours conferred on the former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar in 2001 and 1979.
He said the decision was made to safeguard the dignity, honour and sanctity of the Negeri Sembilan royal institution.
Mohd Rais served as Negeri Sembilan menteri besar from 1978 to 1982.
