SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 — Six areas in Selangor recorded moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8 am today, with Shah Alam registering the state’s highest reading at 83.
According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Kuala Selangor and Johan Setia each recorded a reading of 78, followed by Petaling Jaya at 74, Klang at 70 and Banting at 63.
Meanwhile, air quality in four areas in Sarawak was at unhealthy levels, with IPD Serian recording an API reading of 179.
Samarahan and Kuching each registered readings of 167, while Sri Aman recorded 164.
Several other areas in Sarawak remained at moderate levels, including Bintulu and Kapit, which each recorded readings of 95, followed by Sarikei at 94 and Sibu at 90.
Nationwide, three areas recorded good air quality, while most other monitoring stations registered moderate readings.
API readings of between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, and 101 to 200 as unhealthy.
