SHAH ALAM, Sept 24 — Efforts to strengthen the culture of alumni giving back to their alma mater are needed to create greater opportunities and benefits for students, said Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
In a Facebook post, he said alumni could contribute not only through financial donations but also by sharing their expertise, time, strategic networks, mentorship and opportunities with students.
“Hopefully, the relationship between alumni and the university will continue to be strengthened to produce more graduates who are knowledgeable, competitive and able to contribute to society and the country,” he said yesterday.
He said this after receiving a courtesy visit from Universiti Putra Malaysia Alumni Association (PAUPM).
Amirudin, who has served as PAUPM Patron since 2021, said his time at the university has helped shape his life.
“UPM is very close to my heart. As a 2002 alumni in the Bachelor of Social Science, campus life was an arena that greatly shaped me through student activism and the world of debating.”
