SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has finished covering up the area where a landslide occurred near Flat Bandar Damai Perdana in Cheras last night.
In a Facebook post today, MPKj said the landslide is believed to have been caused by a pipe leak that weakened and destabilised the ground.
“Repairs and covering of the landslide area have been done by the ‘Road Gang’ unit of MPKj’s Engineering Departmnet to ensure the area is safe and under control,” it added.
Monitoring by the Road Gang unit was done from 10.30pm yesterday to 3.30am today.
Previously, Block A residents were ordered to evacuate as a precaution after the landslide occurred last night.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call about the incident at 9.03pm yesterday and dispatched a team from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station, which arrived eight minutes later.
Initial checks revealed that ground on a 4.57m ridge had slipped 0.91m. Emergency personnel detected water still flowing at the site, but found no further ground movement.
No casualties were reported.
