SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 — All six air quality monitoring stations in Selangor have logged moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings since yesterday, with the highest reading in Johan Setia (76) at 3pm today.
It was followed by Shah Alam (72), Petaling Jaya (70), Kuala Selangor (66), Klang (57), and Banting (54).
The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across the state today, involving Petaling, Gombak and Hulu Langat, until 6pm.
Meanwhile, all 13 of Sarawak’s stations have recorded unhealthy readings, with the highest reading in the state and nationwide at 192 in Serian IPD, followed by Kuching (182), Samarahan (178) and Sri Aman (177).
The number of localities with good API readings rose to nine at 3pm, across the northern region of the peninsula involving towns in Terengganu, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Pahang.
An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 301 is hazardous.
