SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 — Banting was the only area in Selangor to record good air quality at 9 am today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, eight stations nationwide recorded good API readings, with Banting registering the highest at 50, followed by Kuala Terengganu (45), Besut (41), Kangar (39), Indera Mahkota, Kuantan (38), Temerloh (33), Jerantut (32) and Langkawi (31).
Meanwhile, five areas in Selangor remained at moderate levels: Johan Setia (71), Shah Alam (69), Petaling Jaya (67), Kuala Selangor (57) and Klang (55).
Elsewhere in the Klang Valley, Cheras recorded an API reading of 78, followed by Batu Muda (74) and Putrajaya (55), all within the moderate range.
At the national level, the portal recorded unhealthy readings in 13 areas in Sarawak, with Sri Aman and IPD Serian registering the highest readings at 180 each.
They were followed by Kuching (175), Sibu (171), Bintulu, Sarikei and Samarahan (169), Mukah (161), Miri and Samalaju (159), ILP Miri (156), Limbang (153) and Kapit (118).
API readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
