SHAH ALAM, Sept 22 — Sarawak was the only state with unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 6pm today, as the haze improves across the rest of the nation.
The highest readings in Malaysia were recorded in Sibu and Sri Aman at 175, followed by Sarikei (162) and Samarahan (157). Eleven out of 12 of Sarawak’s air quality monitoring stations showed unhealthy API readings.
Kapit was the only town with a moderate reading of 95.
In Selangor, the air quality statewide has gotten better since it started raining yesterday, with the highest API reading at a moderate level in Petaling Jaya at 81, followed by Shah Alam (80), Johan Setia (79), Klang (67), Banting (63), and Kuala Selangor (60).
Meanwhile, four areas recorded good readings, namely, Kelantan’s Tanah Merah (50), Penang’s Balik Pulau (48), Perlis’ Kangar (44), and Kedah’s Langkawi (42).
