SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 — A total of 21 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8 am today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Sarawak recorded the highest readings, with IPD Serian at 168, followed by Kapit (166), Sri Aman (160), Miri, Bintulu and Kuching (158), Samarahan (157), Sibu (156), Samalaju (155), ILP Miri (146) and Limbang (104).
In Sabah, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu recorded an API reading of 153, while Kota Kinabalu registered 133.
In the peninsula, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, recorded the highest API reading at 158, followed by Putrajaya (157); Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, and Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (155); Johan Setia (153); Shah Alam and Bukit Rambai, Melaka (152); and Tangkak, Johor (125).
API readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and 301 and above hazardous.
