SHAH ALAM, Sept 18 — Haze continues to blanket major parts of the country at noon today, with more than half of the nation’s monitoring stations recording unhealthy air quality, including all six stations in Selangor.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 36 of 68 stations nationwide recorded unhealthy API readings.
Johan Setia, Selangor, recorded the highest reading at 193, followed by Kuching, Sarawak, at 187 and Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, at 180.
In Selangor, the five other areas with unhealthy API readings were Shah Alam (172), Banting (165), Petaling Jaya (164), Klang (160) and Kuala Selangor (133).
In the Klang Valley, Putrajaya recorded an API reading of 176, while Cheras and Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur both registered readings of 167.
Meanwhile, eight other areas in Sarawak also recorded unhealthy air quality: Samarahan (179), IPD Serian (173), Sibu (164), Sarikei (161), Bintulu (157), Sri Aman (153), Mukah (152) and Kapit (105).
In Perak, four areas recorded unhealthy readings: Seri Manjung (174), Tasek Ipoh (168), and Tanjung Malim and Pegoh Ipoh, both at 153.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
