SHAH ALAM, Sept 18 — A total of 31 areas across several states recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 7 am today.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, six areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy readings: Johan Setia (198), Shah Alam (170), Banting (166), Petaling Jaya (162), Klang (161) and Kuala Selangor (141).
In the Klang Valley, Putrajaya recorded an API reading of 171, while Cheras and Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur registered 165 and 162 respectively.
Further north, five areas in Perak also recorded unhealthy readings: Seri Manjung (175), Tasek, Ipoh (173), Pegoh, Ipoh (153), Tanjung Malim (152) and Taiping (103).
In the south, three areas in Negeri Sembilan recorded unhealthy readings: Nilai (181), Seremban (171) and Port Dickson (159).
Melaka also registered unhealthy readings in Alor Gajah (165), Bukit Rambai (162) and Melaka City (154).
In Johor, five areas recorded unhealthy readings: Tangkak (159), Segamat (158), Batu Pahat (155), Kluang (152) and Larkin (131).
Meanwhile, on the east coast, two areas in Pahang recorded unhealthy readings: Temerloh (151) and Jerantut (110).
In Sarawak, four areas registered unhealthy readings: Sibu (157), Sarikei (156), Sri Aman (154) and Bintulu (152).
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
