Five areas in Selangor still shrouded in haze at 6pm, even after rain

SHAH ALAM, Sept 17 – Five areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 6pm, with Johan Setia recording the highest reading in the state at 165.

According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, the other areas with unhealthy readings in Selangor are Shah Alam (158), Banting (156), Petaling Jaya (152) and Klang (151).

Twenty-seven other areas across the country also had unhealthy API readings at 6pm, including Perak’s Tasek Ipoh, which recorded the highest reading nationwide at 186.

It was followed by Perak’s Seri Manjung (178) and Sarawak’s Kuching and Serian (173).

Meanwhile, 33 areas had moderate API readings, while three areas recorded good air quality.

An API reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and above 300 is hazardous.

Authorities have advised the people to limit prolonged outdoor activities and be alert to API updates.
