PETALING JAYA, Sept 17 — Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan has been elected as the president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for the remainder of the 2025-2029 term at the FAM Executive Committee Election held during the Second FAM Extraordinary Congress 2026 here today.
Ab Ghani, who is Malaysian Football League (MFL) president, secured 20 votes to defeat Football Association of Selangor (FAS) deputy president Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar in a straight fight for the president's post.
Shahril received five votes in the presidential election.
The election was held to reconstitute FAM's leadership after the entire FAM Executive Committee for the 2025-2029 term resigned en masse in January.
