Unhealthy air grips six areas in Selangor as haze persists

SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — Six areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10 am.

The Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal showed that 38 areas nationwide were at unhealthy levels, while 30 recorded moderate air quality.

Nationwide, IPD Serian in Sarawak and Johan Setia in Selangor recorded the highest API readings at 182 each, followed by Cheras in Kuala Lumpur at 172, Pasir Gudang in Johor at 170 and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan at 169.

In Selangor, Shah Alam recorded an unhealthy API reading of 168, followed by Petaling Jaya and Klang at 161 each, while Kuala Selangor and Banting both recorded 157.

Several areas in Putrajaya, Perak, Pahang and Melaka also recorded unhealthy API readings.

As of 10 am, no monitoring stations nationwide recorded good air quality.

Under the API classification, readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and above 300 hazardous.
