SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — Five areas across two states in the country maintained its Air Pollutant Index (API) reading as unhealthy as of 6pm.
However, all areas also recorded a slight decrease on its air quality reading compared earlier today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Serian, Sarawak recorded the highest nationwide at 174.
It is followed by Sri Aman (164), Kuching (154), Samarahan (152), and Johan Setia, Selangor (134).
Seven areas nationwide also recorded good API reading with Kota Bharu, Kelantan with 45 reading followed by Balik Pulau, Penang (39), Tanah Merah, Kelantan (37), Besut, Terengganu (36).
Two areas in Kedah also recorded good API levels namely Alor Setar (28) and Langkawi (22) while Kangar, Perlis reported an API reading of 21.
A total of 54 areas recorded as moderate air quality, with no areas recording very unhealthy in the country.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings recorded at 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
