Elderly motorcyclist killed in Jln Batang Kali-Ulu Yam crash

SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — A 60-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a lorry on Jalan Batang Kali-Ulu Yam, Hulu Selangor, last night.

Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt M Manimaran said the accident occurred at about 7pm when the 45-year-old lorry driver was travelling to Penang to deliver goods.

He said preliminary investigations found that the motorcyclist was travelling from behind and was believed to have attempted to overtake the lorry from the right.

“At the same time, there was a pedestrian crossing the road.

“The motorcyclist is believed to have tried to avoid the pedestrian before losing control and falling,” he said in a statement.

The victim was believed to have been run over by the lorry and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer.

Police received information about the accident at about 7.30pm through the Traffic Complaints Counter.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police have urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
