KOTA BHARU, Sept 11 — A total of 67,077kg of cooking oil was seized in 54 cases under Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated) in Kelantan from March 16 to August 31, with the seizures valued at RM183,571.40.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Kelantan branch director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf said cooking oil accounted for the largest quantity of controlled goods seized during the operation.
He said diesel recorded the second-highest quantity, with 47,494.40 litres seized in 46 cases, valued at RM230,704.67, while 9,874.63 litres of petrol worth RM36,788.96 were seized in 96 cases.
“In addition, 5,228kg of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) valued at RM10,133.20, 1,663kg of sugar valued at RM4,738.75 and 30kg of flour valued at RM105 were also seized.
“This operation demonstrates the state KPDN’s commitment to curbing leakages and misuse of controlled goods, as well as ensuring that subsidised supplies are not misappropriated,” he told Bernama recently.
Hanif said Ops Tiris 4.0 recorded overall seizures of controlled goods and assets worth RM3.38 million following 12,873 inspections of premises and vehicles.
He said the operation also resulted in 222 cases and 90 arrests, while 193 vehicles were impounded after being detected as being involved in smuggling activities.
“Of the total, KPDN recorded 91 cases with 30 arrests and seizures worth RM2.8 million.
“The General Operations Force (PGA) recorded 103 cases and 58 arrests, with seizures worth RM352,829.50, while the Royal Malaysia Police recorded eight cases, two arrests and seizures worth RM193,419.23,” he said.
Hanif said the Marine Police Force recorded 19 cases with no arrests and seizures worth RM9,732.90, while the Malaysian Armed Forces recorded one case with no arrests, involving seizures worth RM339.30.
He added that the state KPDN would continue to intensify integrated enforcement operations with strategic agencies to curb the misuse of controlled goods in Kelantan.
Hanif also urged the public to provide KPDN with information on the misappropriation or misuse of controlled goods for further action.
