SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — Four business premises around Shah Alam and Puchong were issued compounds by the Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) during a compliance inspection yesterday.
In a Facebook post, Selangor KPDN said the inspection focused on labelling, price-tag displays and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
“During the inspection, a total of four compound actions were carried out on the spot for offences committed under the Weights and Measures Act 1972 and the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011,” it said.
It said that among the offences committed by business premises around Section U20 Shah Alam, Puchong Jaya and Kampung Melayu Subang was the failure to display price tags for goods such as pastries and drinks.
In the same operation, Selangor KPDN also monitored the maximum prices of face masks in the market and gathered the latest price information for several types of face masks following increased consumer demand due to changes in weather conditions in Malaysia.
“The team also conducted inspections and investigations into several complaints received from the public through the KPDN complaint system network, particularly regarding the issue of the lack of price tags on goods sold as well as compliance with the law.”
Selangor KPDN reminded traders not to arbitrarily raise the prices of face masks following increased demand, to avoid being subject to action under the Price Control and Anti Profiteering Act.
