SHAH ALAM, Sept 4 — Five areas in Selangor recorded moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings between 60 and 79 as of 11am today, according to data from the Environmental Quality Management System (EQMS).
The highest reading was recorded at Johan Setia at 79, followed by Shah Alam at 78 and Banting at 73.
Petaling Jaya and Kuala Selangor recorded API readings of 67 and 60 respectively.
All five areas recorded API readings within the moderate category, with none exceeding the unhealthy level of 101.
Sarawak remained the state with the highest number of unhealthy and very unhealthy API readings.
The two areas in Sarawak that recorded a hazardous category API readings of 300 and above were IPD Serian with 517 and Kuching at 310.
Six areas in Sarawak also recorded unhealthy readings between 101 and 200, with Sarikei recording an API reading at 182, followed by Sibu with 178, Mukah (175), Bintulu (157), Samalaju (151) and ILP Miri at 113.
Two areas recorded very unhealthy readings between 201 and 300 were Samarahan with 281 and Sri Aman with 239.
The public is advised to remain alert to the latest API readings and take the necessary precautionary measures, particularly in areas recording high API levels.
