KATHMANDU, Sept 4 — Property, housing and infrastructure worth at least US$2.56 billion (RM10.36 billion; 387.5 billion Nepalese rupees) were damaged in Nepal’s catastrophic floods last week, the head of the country’s disaster authority told Reuters today.
The estimated cost of early recovery efforts over the first four months, including rebuilding roads and temporary shelters and restoring drinking water and electricity, would be around US$52.6 million (RM213 million; 7.95 billion Nepalese rupees), said Dharma Raj Upreti, chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
