AMPANG, Aug 29 — Major state-level celebrations, including Independence Day and major festivals, will be held on a rotational basis across Selangor’s districts to foster a stronger sense of belonging among the people.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state administration would no longer focus solely on the state capital, Shah Alam, but would instead bring major celebrations closer to communities across the state.
Amirudin said the focus of the approach is to ensure that every segment of society is reached while strengthening the spirit of unity among Selangor residents.
“Tomorrow night, we have the Merdeka parade, and this year we have chosen Hulu Langat because it has always been held in Shah Alam.
“From now on, we will take these celebrations to all districts and go down to the communities.
“The same goes for Aidilfitri, Deepavali and other celebrations,” he said when officiating the Madani Kita Bersama Komuniti Ampang Jaya 2026, today.
Amirudin also invited the public to join in the 69th National Day celebration at the Selangor state level, which will be held at Kajang Stadium tomorrow night.
The Selangor State Secretariat Office previously announced that the celebration would take place from 6pm to midnight, featuring a variety of activities for visitors of all ages.
The programme includes parades and marches, performances by uniformed bodies, cultural performances and a fireworks display, while 100,000 Kajang satay skewers will also be provided for visitors to enjoy.
The celebration will also feature performances by several well-known Malaysian artistes, including Awie, Ramli Sarip, Ukays and Wani Kayrie.
