KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — A weak earthquake of magnitude 3.4 was detected in Temenggor in Gerik, Perak, around midnight last night.
The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake hit at 12.06am at coordinates 5.5º north and 101.3º east.
The epicentre was located 9km northeast of Hulu Perak at a depth of 10km.
“The tremors were also felt in Gerik, but no tsunami threat was issued,” MetMalaysia said in a statement today.
It also urged people who felt tremors from the earthquake to fill out its post-earthquake questionnaire.
