SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — The Selangor State Muballighat Association’s (PMNS) founder Hindon Abdullah, was named the recipient of the state-level Maulidur Rasul 2026 Award today.

The 84-year-old, who also served as the association’s first chairman, received the award during the Selangor state-level Maulidur Rasul Celebration 1448/2026 at the Shah Alam Islamic Lecture and Muzakarah Hall in Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

The mother of five expressed her gratitude for the recognition, which she received after more than three decades of contributing to dakwah efforts through the association.

“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), I hope this recognition will motivate me to continue working with my friends, even though I have been involved in Muballighat for 32 years.

“Actually, it was Datuk Abu Bakar Abdul Hamid, (the then-state executive councillor for Islamic affairs), who called me. He said Selangor did not have a women’s association that led efforts to promote Islam, so he asked me to do it.

“I prayed to Allah SWT to give me the ability to do it. After a month of discussions, I managed to gather my retired friends, and everything went smoothly,” she said.

Hindon added that the association currently runs various dakwah programmes targeting primary and secondary school students, teenagers and parents, including religious programmes and activities held during Ramadan.

“We recently had a meeting led by a doctor from Universiti Teknologi Mara. I hope that with the involvement of experienced professionals, we can strengthen and continue our dakwah efforts; it cannot be stopped,” she said.

Earlier, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj attended the celebration and presented Hindon with a RM20,000 cheque, a certificate and a trophy.

Also accompanying the Sultan were Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, and Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s director Dato’ Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.

Also in attendance were Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Senator Dato’ Setia Salehuddin Saidin, Selangor Mufti Dato’ Setia Anhar Opir, and state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah.
