PUTRAJAYA, Aug 25 — The Immigration Department of Malaysia has lodged a police report over a viral post concerning an applicant’s experience at the UTC Pudu Sentral Immigration Branch Office.
Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said a review found that several allegations in the post were inconsistent with closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, related records, and statements from officers on duty at the time.
The review examined CCTV footage and related records and obtained statements from the officers involved.
“The department takes this matter seriously to ensure the actual situation can be clarified based on the facts obtained. A police report has been lodged, and the department will provide its full cooperation to the Royal Malaysia Police,” he said in a statement today.
Zakaria added that the Immigration Department respected every individual's right to voice their views, share their experiences, or submit complaints regarding its services.
However, he emphasised that accurate and comprehensive information is important to ensure matters could be evaluated fairly and to avoid misunderstandings.
The department remains committed to handling every complaint transparently, professionally, and without prejudice, while continuing to provide courteous services with integrity and prioritising the public interest.
