
SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — Selangor’s table tennis camp closed out its final day with one gold and two silver, at the MBDK Hall in Bukit Raja today.
Cheah Yu Zheng set aside her nerves and beat the Federal Territories’ Gan Ai Lis 4-2 to take gold in her first SUKMA appearance.
Yu Zheng led the first two sets before Ai Lis scored a 2-2 equaliser, but the former got back up for a 12-10, 11-9, 8-11, 7-11, 11-2 and 13-11 victory.
“Of course I was nervous at my first appearance at SUKMA, but my coach advised me to be more calm and now I’m the winner.
“Thank you also to supporters who always fuel my drive to take gold for Selangor,” Yu Zheng told Media Selangor when met here today.

This victory completes her SUKMA collection at one gold, two silver and one bronze.
Selangor rallied to the mixed and men’s doubles finals, but settled for silver in both after falling to Sarawak and Penang.
Lee Yong Yi-Hun Hui Qi were beaten 0-3 by Sarawak, while Yong Yi took another silver with Tey Hong Yu after Penang handed them their defeat in the men’s doubles.
The three medals today takes Selangor’s table tennis medal haul to six, with a bronze in the women’s doubles, silver in the women’s team, and bronze in the men’s team events.
