KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the Flores region of Indonesia at 9.31 am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said it detected the earthquake at coordinates 8.2° South and 120.6° East, about 210km east of Bima, Indonesia.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 45km and posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
