Serian IPD API reading drops, 11 areas record unhealthy air quality

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at the Serian district police headquarters (IPD) in Sarawak fell to 190 as of 9am today from 227 yesterday afternoon, moving from the very unhealthy to unhealthy level.

According to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 10 other areas in the state also recorded unhealthy air quality: Kuching (182), Samarahan (177), Sarikei and Sri Aman (173), Sibu (161), Bintulu (157), Samalaju and Mukah (156), as well as Miri and Bukit Rambai in Melaka, both at 151.

Meanwhile, 57 areas nationwide recorded moderate API readings.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous.

API releases data hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
