SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 — The Selangor branch of the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has enhanced preparations to face floods and incidents related to heavy rain, with the addition of 19 4x4 light operation vehicles (LOVs) to its fleet.
Selangor JBPM director Dato’ Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said these assets represent the department’s early efforts to ensure its personnel, vehicles and operation equipment are at the ready and can be immediately mobilised.
“These assets are important to strengthen Selangor JBPM’s mobility, preparations and operational efficiency, especially in supporting operations throughout Selangor.
“These vehicles will be put to use as main supports at the station level to perform operational and administrative tasks, including moving personnel, transporting equipment, monitoring areas, and as early support in emergencies and disasters,” he said in a statement today.

Wan Razali said the 19 LOVs make up the sixth distribution package from the JBPM headquarters, and their placements will depend on area risk profiles and operational needs statewide.
He said these vehicles will allow personnel to traverse hard-to-access areas, especially during floods or when roads are affected.
He added that Selangor JBPM will boost preparations via systematic asset management, periodic checks, personnel training, and operational coordination among stations.
Wan Razali also reminded the public to be aware of weather updates, follow authorities’ instructions, and take preventive measures in the event of heavy rain, floods, and extreme weather.
