
KAJANG, Aug 16 — Selangor’s Muhammad Aliff Damien Mohd Redzuan and Izzah Najwa Norwanizam scored gold in the men’s and women’s single silat routine, or Pencak Silat Tunggal Putera and Puteri, at the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) today.
At Universiti Tenaga Nasional’s (UNITEN) Dewan Seri Sarjana here, silat exponents competed individually with silat routines evaluated on accuracy, techniques and performance quality.
Aliff Damien’s excellent performance saw him finish his routine in three minutes and scoring 9.925 points, defeating Perak exponent Hadif Irfan Mustaffa Kamal, while Izzah Najwa showcased a routine that earned her 9.92 points to soar past Sabah’s Roslyana Rustam.
Their achievements bring Selangor’s medal tally to 19 so far — nine gold, five silver and five bronze — putting the state at the top of the list on SUKMA’s first day.
