
SERDANG, Aug 16 — Eighteen Selangor players will start their challenges in the curtain-raising Malaysian Games (SUKMA) athletics event at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Stadium here today.
Eight athletes are set for the final stages of the hurdles, long jump, discus throw, 10,000m race, and 10,000m walk, while the remaining 10 will start the semi-finals of highly anticipated events including the “blue-ribbon” men’s and women’s 100m race, 110m men’s hurdles and 100m women’s hurdles.
UPM Stadium is the main SUKMA venue for athletics and will gather sportspeople from all over the nation and Brunei who are chasing success and medals to make their state proud.
Today’s curtain-raising athletics event will also see the Selangor contingent ramp up their hunt for gold medals and realise their 80-gold target for this SUKMA.
