SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 — The state government will identify several sites for the construction of electrical substations as some areas are currently experiencing low-voltage supply issues.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim said the matter had already been discussed with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), and that follow-up action would be taken as soon as possible.
Investigations have found that the problem stemmed from landowners developing lot lidi plots without providing space for electrical substations.
“Several honourable members (state assemblymen) have raised this issue. I have also received information from TNB. Previously, areas around Klang and Banting experienced low-voltage problems.
“Now Ijok, Permatang, and many other areas are beginning to face the same problem. When lot lidi developments are built, many lots are created, but there is no space for electrical substations.
“So we will identify sites for substations to restore the electricity voltage. This matter will be addressed promptly and thoroughly,” he said while winding up the Second Selangor Plan motion during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
Previously, several representatives, including Ijok state assemblyman Jefri Mejan and Permatang state assemblyman Nurul Syazwani Noh, raised concerns about low-voltage electricity and called for the issue to be addressed for the well-being of the people.
