PUTRAJAYA, Aug 13 — The Immigration Department has blacklisted holders of Temporary Employment Visit Passes (PLKS) unlawfully approved by a syndicate that hacked the Malaysia Immigration System.
Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the action was taken after the department conducted operations and raids at several locations to track down the PLKS holders involved.
“The raids found that the premises addresses and employer details used did not match the information stated on the PLKS.
“As such, action has been taken to blacklist them in the immigration system, and they will not be able to carry out any transactions or dealings unless they have enquiries that need to be referred to the relevant immigration office,” he said during a media conference today.
On July 28, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), through its Intelligence Division in collaboration with the department's Intelligence Division, conducted a joint operation in the Klang Valley and Penang.
The operation was also assisted by CyberSecurity Malaysia, TELEKOM Malaysia, the National Cyber Security Agency, and the MACC Technology Forensics Division.
Searches were conducted at company premises, as well as the Immigration Department's Penang office and its headquarters in Putrajaya.
Approximately 1,306 PLKS were found to have been unlawfully approved at various locations nationwide, involving various sectors.
