SHAH ALAM, Aug 7 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today tabled the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), which provides a roadmap for the state’s push to become Malaysia’s first RM500 billion economy.
In his speech at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here, he said the RS-2 aims to “offer high-paying jobs to Selangoreans, narrow income and inter-district development gaps, improve public transport effectiveness and the people’s well-being, and realise six missions covering 25 areas of focus and 98 initiatives”.
He added that among the priorities of RS-2, effective until 2030, is to provide direction for local, state and federal government agencies, as well as state government subsidiaries, in fulfilling Selangor’s development agenda.
“This motion (also aligns) with the government’s aim of redoubling efforts to plan the state’s socio-economic development across all segments of society, in line with Kita Selangor principles,” he said.
Amirudin explained that passing the RS-2 motion would urge the entirety of Selangor to pool efforts and realise the state’s aspiration to become a model ASEAN state, by building an equitable economy and ensuring quality of life for all by 2030.
The RS-2 builds on successes of the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), which was the state’s first-of-its-kind development framework implemented from 2021 to 2025 to drive post-pandemic economic recovery and strengthen long-term growth.
On Tuesday, the menteri besar said the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to reach RM612.5 billion by 2030 under RS-2 — a projection based on the state’s resilient economic fundamentals, sustained investment momentum, and continued economic activity.
