MACC detains two C-suite officers following Tabung Haji RCI report

SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 – The Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested the former chief executive officer and former chief financial officer of a company owned by a statutory body, following an investigation into the Lembaga Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry report.

Berita Harian reported that the two, aged 68 and 60, were arrested on suspicion of abusing their power in the purchase of shares in two plantation companies worth RM370 million.

A source said that they were both arrested when they appeared to give statements at the MACC Headquarters at 6.30pm yesterday.

However, the suspects were released last night due to health reasons and will appear again at the MACC at 10am this morning to continue recording their statements.

When contacted, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
