SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 – The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has successfully collected RM7,030 in outstanding assessment tax payments through a door-to-door operation at Axis Residence, Taman Cempaka, yesterday.
The exercise involved enforcement officers delivering final reminder notices and negotiating assessment tax arrears with property owners.
The council said the operation, organised by its Revenue Department, targeted property owners with assessment tax arrears exceeding RM10,000 despite having previously been issued with Notice E.
According to the MPAJ, the door-to-door visit approach was implemented to hold negotiations with the premise owners including to find the best solution for the arrears that have not yet been settled.
“A total of 46 property accounts were visited involving a total arrears of RM137,654.65.
“Of that amount, a collection of RM7,030 or 5.11 per cent of the total arrears was successfully obtained throughout the operation,” the council said in a post on Facebook.
MPAJ also identified several issues that were the cause of the arrears, including 13 vacant premises with arrears totaling RM53,378.65.
The council found that premise owners refused to cooperate and premises that cannot be occupied due to internal structural damage.
“Therefore, MPAJ reminds all property owners to check and settle their respective assessment tax arrears to avoid enforcement action in accordance with the provisions of the law in force,” the council said.
