SHAH ALAM, July 27 — A strategic collaboration between Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, formalised through the signing of two agreements, is expected to reinforce Selangor's utility infrastructure by ensuring a more stable, efficient, and resilient water supply operations.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the Energy Supply Agreement (ESA) and Cooling Energy Supply Agreement (CESA) mark an important step towards improving electricity supply reliability to support water treatment and distribution operations across the state.

Amirudin, who is also Air Selangor’s chairman, said the Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant is the first Air Selangor facility to receive a direct electricity supply through the ESA, strengthening its operational capabilities.

"At the same time, the 20-year CESA will modernise the cooling system at Air Selangor's headquarters and the Wilayah Kuala Lumpur building through more sustainable and energy-efficient technology.

"This initiative is expected to reduce cooling costs by 11 per cent, with savings of approximately RM2.78 million throughout the concession period, while also contributing to lower carbon emissions and improved operational efficiency," he said in a Facebook post today.

The exchange of the ESA and CESA documents between TNB and Air Selangor was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister cum Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Amirudin added that the collaboration also supports Selangor's aspiration of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 under the Second Selangor Plan 2026-2030.

He also thanked Air Selangor and TNB for successfully concluding the strategic partnership, describing it as a catalyst for the development of a more sustainable and resilient utility infrastructure in the state.
