SEREMBAN, July 27 — The Negeri Sembilan Palace has urged political parties contesting in the 16th state election not to drag the royal institution into their campaign speeches and activities.

Comptroller of the Negeri Sembilan Royal Household Datuk Azizi Mohamad Ali said the royal institution remains strictly neutral and does not align itself with any political party or political activity.

Instead, the monarchy serves as a symbol of unity for the people and plays a vital role in safeguarding the state's harmony, stability, and well-being.

"Any allegations, statements, images, videos, or materials linking the Negeri Sembilan Palace, His Royal Highness the Ruler, or any member of the royal family to any political party are false.

"All candidates contesting in the Negeri Sembilan state election are advised to avoid exploiting issues related to religion, royalty, and race (3R), and to conduct their campaigns prudently, ethically, and in accordance with the law to preserve the state's harmony," he said in a statement today.

Azizi added that the palace appreciated the cooperation of all parties in ensuring that the royal institution continues to be respected and protected from misinterpretation or exploitation for political interests.

He also urged the public not to believe or spread unverified information and to refer only to the Negeri Sembilan Palace's official communication channels for authentic information.

The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 5 to make way for the state election.

Early voting will be held tomorrow, while polling is scheduled for Saturday (August 1).
