SHAH ALAM, July 24 — A total of 822 staffers of Selangor government subsidiaries and statutory bodies have received Subsidiaries and Statutory Bodies (TPASBB) Education Fund scholarships since 2013.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that of the number, 608 have completed their studies while 214 are pursuing higher education under the fund.
“Since it launched in 2013, TPASBB has spent RM21 million to sponsor Selangor government subsidiary and statutory body staff’s higher education to the doctor of philosophy level (PhD).
“I believe investment in education and human capital development is among the most important foundations in ensuring Selangor remains a leading state that is competitive, progressive, and ready to face future challenges,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Earlier, Amirudin chaired a TPASBB Administrative Committee meeting to scrutinise human capital development in state government subsidiaries and statutory bodies.
He said the committee discussed efforts to expand high-skill programmes and improve employees’ skills so they are relevant to evolving industry needs.
Amirudin also said the committee looked into recommendations to provide more industrial training opportunities by recruiting coaches to produce new talent to contribute to Selangor’s development.
