SHAH ALAM, July 22 — Tourism Selangor is benefiting from the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) Selangor 2026 by promoting local destinations ahead of the arrival of athletes, officials and tourists from all over the country, said its chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling.
“We will pursue partnerships with hotels to promote tourism destinations. We are confident this tournament will attract athletes’ families (as well),” she told Media Selangor.
Chua said SUKMA and Para SUKMA will help Selangor achieve its target of drawing nine million tourists to the state under the Visit Selangor Year 2026 (VSY2026)campaign, while adding value to the local economy.

In April, state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said he is sure Selangor can meet its aim of nine million tourist arrivals in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and VSY2026.
He added that even amid uncertainties due to the West Asia conflict, proactive measures have been designed to ensure the tourism sector is resilient, including by shifting promotions to target markets like Japan, China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asian countries.
Ng added that efforts to draw tourists from Australia have been ramped up as well, to help balance deficits from certain markets.
