SHAH ALAM, July 20 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds affecting several areas, including Selangor, until 5pm today.
The affected districts in Selangor are Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, and Hulu Langat.
The same warning also covers the entire state of Perlis, as well as several areas in Kedah, including Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu.
Adverse weather is also forecast across the whole of Penang, several districts in Perak (Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, and Muallim), as well as Marang, Dungun, and Kemaman in Terengganu.
In Pahang, the affected areas are Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, and Bera, while in Negeri Sembilan, the warning covers Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Jempol, and Tampin. The entire state of Melaka is also affected.
In Johor, warnings have been issued for Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, and Johor Bahru. In the Federal Territories, the alert covers the whole of Kuala Lumpur.
In Sarawak, the affected areas are Sri Aman, Saratok, Kabong, Sarikei, Sibu, Dalat, Mukah, Song, Bintulu, Subis, and Miri.
"A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a period of no more than six hours from the time it is issued," it said in a statement.
Members of the public are advised to stay updated on the latest weather conditions through the official MetMalaysia website, the myCuaca app, and the department's official social media channels.
