SHAH ALAM, July 20 — The state government is implementing a more holistic approach to youth development by linking youth policies with a wide range of agendas.
State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said these include the economy, education, sports, the creative industry, and technology through a flexible approach that adapts to changing generations.
"Selangor's strength is that we do not view youth development in isolation. Not all young people today are involved in youth associations, so our approach is more flexible, reaching them through campuses, communities, sports, e-sports, the creative industry, and digital platforms," he told Media Selangor.
Najwan added that Selangor remains committed to implementing various high-impact programmes and initiatives to empower youth development and nurture quality, young leaders.
"Among the initiatives that have made a significant impact are leadership development programmes such as the Selangor Youth Convention, Debate Competitions, Selangor Youth Movers (PeBS), SERVE Selangor, leadership training, and support for youth organisations," he said.
The state government continues to strengthen volunteer programmes, leadership development, youth associations, and community activities to produce a generation of young people who are competitive and possess integrity, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility towards society.
"Youth development must be holistic. Economic development may create prosperity, but leadership and values build a nation," Najwan said.
He noted that Selangor offers the greatest employment opportunities, strong industrial networks, and quality educational institutions for young people.
Its dynamic economy, together with the state government's support for talent development and entrepreneurship, has made Selangor the destination of choice for young people seeking to build their future.
"Young people come to Selangor not merely to find employment, but to build their future," Najwan said.
