MBDK intensifies school canteen licensing programme across Klang

KLANG, July 19: The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) has intensified efforts to license school canteens across the district to ensure operators comply with food safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements.

The initiative, led by itsLicensing Department, is being carried out in collaboration with the Klang District Islamic Religious Office, the Klang District Health Office, the Klang District Education Office, and the Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre.

The programme aims to strengthen compliance with health, safety, and school canteen management standards while ensuring students have access to clean and safe food.

"This initiative emphasises the provision of clean and safe food, compliance with the standard operating procedures for the operation of food premises, and ensuring that all food handlers possess a valid Food Handling Certificate and anti-typhoid vaccination," MBDK said in a Facebook post.

The local authority added that the collaborative effort reflects its commitment to improving standards at school canteens through continuous monitoring, guidance, and enforcement.

"MBDK is committed to strengthening strategic cooperation with the relevant agencies in carrying out continuous monitoring, guidance, and enforcement to create a healthy, safe, and conducive school environment for the well-being of the school community," it said.

MBDK encouraged school canteen operators seeking licensing information to contact its Licensing Department at 03-3375 5555.
