SUNGAI CHOH, July 15 — The Selangor Madani Entrepreneur Fund assitance programme has helped a ferro-cement entrepreneur increase production capacity through the distribution of business equipment worth RM15,000.
Among the recipients is retired military officer Azmi Abdul Aziz, 50, who received a battery-powered forklift and cement mixer to facilitate daily operations at his workshop here.
Serendah district Penghulu Rusmi Minhat said that Azmi had to rely on manual labour to handle heavy ferro-cement products.
Rusmi said that the use of battery-powered forklifts can speed up the material handling process, thus increasing productivity and facilitating product delivery to customers.
"Each recipient of the Selangor Madani Entrepreneur Fund is selected through an assessment process to ensure that the assistance provided truly meets the needs of their respective businesses," he added.
Azmi, who was met at the aid handover ceremony on June 19, said that the forklifts received will be used immediately, while the cement mixer is expected to be received in the near future.
"Alhamdulillah, today I received the requested forklift. The cement mixer is expected to be received in a few days. The entire assistance is worth approximately RM15,000 and will greatly assist my business operations," he said.
Rusmi said the state government will monitor the progress of each aid recipient for a year to ensure that the equipment distributed is fully utilised and has an impact on business growth.
He said the Selangor Madani Entrepreneur Fund Assistance Programme also benefits various micro-enterprises in Sungai Choh including mushroom, bakery, restaurant, cafe and furniture entrepreneurs.
He said that there are recipients who previously relied on welfare assistance who have now successfully expanded their businesses to the point of creating job opportunities and contributing to the local economy.
