Faulty train component caused LRT3 incident at Shah Alam Stadium Station

SHAH ALAM, July 14 — A technical fault involving one of the train’s components caused an incident on the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line on July 4 when it came into contact with the power conductor.

Rapid KL said the incident, which occurred at 7.05pm at the Shah Alam Stadium Station, resulted in a small explosion-like sound and sparks, but no injuries were reported, and service operations continued as usual.

Immediately after the incident, the train was withdrawn from service and passengers were disembarked at the next station before continuing their journey on another train.

The train was subsequently taken to the depot for a detailed inspection, and the affected component was replaced.

“The train was allowed to return to service after inspections confirmed it was safe for operation,” it said in a statement today.

Rapid KL added that passenger safety remained its top priority and that inspections and monitoring of other trains had also been carried out as a precautionary measure.
